FilingWire Risk API — Terms of Use, Data Source & Disclaimer

Last updated: 2026-07-17 (product renamed to FilingWire Risk API; terms otherwise unchanged)

In these Terms, "we" / "us" / "the API" refer to the FilingWire Risk API and its operator; "you" means the user accessing it. Contact: hello@filingwire.io.

1. What this API provides

The FilingWire Risk API returns classified material corporate events derived from public SEC EDGAR 8-K filings — each carrying an event_type, a severity (low/medium/high/critical), a short factual summary, and a source_url back to the filing. Events are classified daily after EDGAR publishes its daily index; this is daily corporate-event *monitoring*, not a real-time feed. It returns derived signals only — not raw filing text beyond the short factual summary. This is a standalone product, separate from the FilingWire Funding API (SEC Form D), which has its own terms.

2. Data source & attribution

3. Personal data

We store business information only — company names and public filing metadata. Personal names are stripped during ingestion and are never stored or served. The API exposes no personal or contact data.

4. Accuracy, freshness & "no advice" disclaimer

5. Acceptable use

6. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decision made in reliance on the data. Total liability is limited to the fees paid for this API in the prior 1 month.

7. Changes & contact

We may update the data, endpoints, or these terms; material API changes will be versioned (/v1, /v2, …). Questions: hello@filingwire.io.
